As many of you may know, I’ve been studying abroad in Thessaloniki, Greece, for the past month. My time here has been filled with immense joy, delicious food, wonderful connections, and new friends. In addition to the wonderful free time we’ve been allotted as students abroad, we have also been working extremely hard on our program of study. I’m studying with the Washington State University Murrow College of Communications, and my group and I have been heavily involved in two upper-level STRATCOM courses revolving around social media. For this program, we have been working in small groups with local businesses in Thessaloniki to help develop dynamic and updated social media campaigns to elevate their online presences.
My group (me and two other ladies) was assigned a fantastic and gorgeous winery in the heart of the Epanomi region of Thessaloniki, called Ktima Gerovassiliou. Ktima Gerovassiliou is a family-owned vineyard, winery, and wine museum that stresses the aspect of community and connection within their business and morals. We visited the winery two times and had a chance to intimately connect with the Marketing Coordinator and daughter of the owner, Vassiliki and developed a strategic and well-thought out social media plan to redesign the heart and purpose of their Instagram page.
For the campaign materials, I produced an image gallery that details all of the community-focused aspects of the venue, with a mindset to target a younger demographic, and to provide a stylistic touch and elegance to the page (while retaining a human, friendly element).
In addition to the photos, I created a one-minute promotional video featuring the heart of the winery with intent to elevate the business as a whole and attract the ideal demographic. It was incredibly enjoyable to produce and especially as the venue was absolutely divine!
My team and I worked together to also create a series of prepared Instagram posts and Stories to kickstart the campaign, providing the marketing team with some valuable pointers to prolong the style guides we created and to encourage the continuation of the Instagram refresh in the long run.
This was such a rewarding project to work on, and by far my favorite school project I have completed thus far. I’m incredibly proud of the work I produced and it has been such a satisfying feeling delivering my very best work to a client who so well deserved it. I cannot wait to continue producing work like this in the future and furthering my work with small businesses, my heart truly lies in the owners and creators behind brands like Ktima Gerovassiliou!
